Bible School Update!!
November SBS Newsletter!!
If You Are New:
Welcome to my newsletter!! It’s fun to get to post again and share stories with all of you! The last few months gave been crazy so let me get you up to speed!!
What Have I been up to?
Over the last almost 2 months I have been studying the bible here at YWAM The Kings Lodge! We have thus far studied 10 books - reading each 5 times, interpreting different scriptures, learning the historical context, and applying it to our lives. A classic day on base starts with some kind of base gathering: either worship, or intercession, or small groups, etc. and then we all head upstairs to have lectures until lunch, and then after lunch it is self study and assignments! Sometimes ending as late as 2 am!!
It’s definitely been super busy and hectic but I wouldn’t trade it in for anything, I am already learning so much and feel like I am growing in understand of God and passion for the Word. There are some things that I truly feel God laying on my heart for the upcoming seasons. But this is such a beautiful season in itself that I am so grateful to be here, meeting people who are so passionate for God and the nations!
I have been blessed to reunite with more people from DTS! Chloe is on base doing her SBS here with me which has made the whole experience so much easier and less lonely because I know that even if I’m away from my family, one of my sisters is here with me! And we both got to go to London to see our DTS school leader Tara, her beautiful baby boy, and Sophia who came back to base with us!! God has so loved on us through that mini reunion.
The school has been tough and there have definitely been many tears so far but in everything God has made HIs presence known and has been holding my hand. Through both the highs and the lows this has still been and will still be such a profound course to do as my foundations are really laid in the word and in Jesus. I think that Paul would have like SBS if I could be so bold as to say so! I honestly would suggest a bible school to every Christian or even Non-Christian, so that you can set aside time to really grapple with all of the questions you have and have the time to mediate on the word and the presence of Holy Spirit.
What have I learnt?
I think that some of my biggest take away’s so far have been the lengths that you can go when you have a heart for the Word and the body of Christ and the importance of being rooted in identity of Christ and His Word that you wont be easily swayed by others. Honestly I think that I could talk for ages about some of these books now that I finally understand them and have even read them! If I could come clean, I didn’t even know that there was a book called Philemon until we studied it here. I feel as if I have learnt a whole new way of reading, of learning, or researching… it is truly an incredible experience.
Challenges…
As you would guess with a course like this, there have definitely been some challenges so far. I’ve found it quite hard to be away from my family when I know that they are only two hours away, it’s like they are just out of reach and sometimes a girls gotta get a hug from her mom and she cant. I think it’s also been quite hard to find a balance between work and socialising… I tend to be quite a people person and can find life really lonely when I don’t get to connect with others even if there are people around, but I cant always prioritise connection when I have deadlines to meet! So finding that balance has been a big challenge for me personally. I was also hoping to find some work while I was up here so that I could save for terms 2 and 3 but with the schedule the staff asked that I wouldn’t work because we only have Sunday’s off. That means though that I have no way to pay for terms 2 and 3 where we will be diving into the Old Testament. I have plans to work over the Christmas holidays, but unless I work 16 hour days every day I’m not sure that I can cover those fees. This has definitely been a big prayer point for me recently and a place I’ve had to learn to trust God again because I had hoped that I could make the money for my school fees myself.
Prayer requests
As I continue on this journey with the Bible, I would love to hear your guys’ prayer requests for this coming season! Please feel free to email me, DM, text, or even comment your prayer requests so that I can write them down and partner with y’all in them!
